960 ford pulling parts

Does anyone make performance parts for 960s? What kind of bore stroke can you do? Any auto pistons that work good with stock crank/rods? What can you do with that awful manifold? Any carb tricks?

It all depends on what your goals are. How big do you want to make it. The biggest one that I personally know of is 330 cubes. That is a very expensive proposition. Mine is 4.165 bore 4.70 stroke. My e-mail is attached if you want to discuss this furher. If it's a stock puller a 192 (4 cylinder) cube Ford insustrial is a bolt in.

How about the Select O Speed? Has anybody ever tried pulling with one of those? I have always been intrigued by those little tractors.

there a sos pulling and they seem fine. the weak point seems to be the axle shafts in the div 3 tractors

Approximately 3.8 MPH with 15.5 X 38s in 1st gear at 20% over factory RPM and right at 4 MPH with 14.9 X 38 s depending on tire manufacturer

I think it's mostly the drop housings that break with big tires and lots of power, most have them braced.

I'd like to know what rods are in that one and how they cleared the cam. Is there any block left on the the opposite side of the cam?

Thanks,

I'm always interested in how they get by the camshaft, as that has been an issue in mine with a 4.70 stroke.

the rod journal diameter is 2.298 standard and the rod is 6.250 long (as close as I can measure)

I know of one running that has welded rods, but its not something I would do. I"m currently using a 6.300 SBC Lentz Nascar rod with a 2" journal and the Chevy .927 wrist pin. I"m waiting on a set of billet rods with same specs only with clocked rod cap bolts

When that much is removed from a crankpin, 2.298 down to 2.000, have you sent the crankshaft out for nitriding (journal hardening) or just run it as-is?
