Tractor Pulling alive and well in NH

I attended a two day pull at Deerfield Fair in NH. There were approx. 175 hooks each day. Many of the classes had over 20 entries. The new organizer is making some strong efforts to get the owners of hot tractors out of the stock classes and into the enhanced. I think that this is good long term for the sport because first timers will be less likely to be discouraged by a few going twice as far as they do.

(quoted from post at 09:19:11 09/29/13) Do you suppose some of those efforts will apply to other pulls in NH and VT?

I doubt it Chuck. This fellow has done very little pulling. I told him about when you had a dyno at a pull once, but he thinks that it is the way to go. He was checking RPMs yesterday after a warning at drivers meeting and still DQd a bunch. I told him that I thought that speed limits is the way to do it. He said that he also had a very direct discussion with one fellow who one two classes.

I went to the Power of the red show in Dublin. They had a stone boat pull there with a 4ft chain. By far the most fun pull. No weight classes, no rules besides not being an idiot, use common sense. They just added blocks, everyone got to pull and as they added blocks, some people dropped out. It was a good time and I am going again next year.
