I recomend you using the newer computer controlled hei distributor . It has no mechanical advance . You have to change the 8 pin module out to the four pin if your not planning on running a msd box. Then its pretty much just removing the hei gear and adding your tractors old delco remmy point distributors gear onto the hei . Your timming will be locked unless you run a advance or retard module on the msd box. Most set their timing total timing and lockout the advance anyway so your hei has already done that if you choose the computer controlled hei distributor

have someone check the advance curve who has a machine to do so then recurve it with differen't springs and weights, not sure what you are putting it on but a long neck off of a 250 chev. 6 will work on an Oliver

Did you google a crank triggered ign? You can rob one from a 90's Ford Escort or Ranger for the 4 cyl. and Taurus or Ranger for the 6 cyl. And I can see no reason why you couldn't use one on a 2 cyl also. I put one on this summer and yes it is running good and winning a little. We have it timed linear or it just keeps advancing as the engine rpm goes up. And doesn't kick back at start up. Vic
