need help with john deere a puller

I have a John Deere A that is stroked to 8 1/2 and bored to 6 1/8. It has a high lift cam, a high flow manifold, and Denny's big nut carb and a ported stock head. It only puts out 55 horse and it should be closer to 80 horse. any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

a lot of people have A LOT of problems with dennys carb and ignition parts. you might try changing the carb and ignition and seeing how it dynos. a friend had dennys ignition and the advance was totally out of whack.

What rockers? Whats the grind and centerline set at? What is your compression? Did you put bigger valves in? If so block needs clearanced for anything over .500 lift or valve will hit block surface

Call Roberts carburetor he knows what he is doing. I agree play with timing on a dyno and go from there first. And it depends who grinds your cam also each builder has their own design they feel will work. We just tested ours today 6" bore stock stroke and ground cam with mild porting in head and Johnson manifold and big nut. Didn't gain anything over a 72. Peaked at 43 horse ran 38 when we pulled it down. But the cam is ground to put out a higher and flatter torque curve.
