Can someone tell me what works best for gasket sealer when installing a copper head gasket? OR, do I use nothing?

Thanks in advance

Go to your local motorcycle shop and get a material in a tube called Honda bond or yama bond. Spread it on thin with your finger. Sets up pretty quick. Clean everything with acetone first.

I use copper coat. My dad was a mechanic for over 30 years and that is what he always used.

I work with Clark Copper Head Gaskets, all of these sealers will work well. Make sure your surfaces are flat, no worpage. Good head bolts, not stretched out ones. What trips up most is they get in a hurry & don't retorque after getting warm.

I use the "Right Stuff" but will second honda bond or yamabond. With copper coat I have had annoying leaks . And yeah I have been doing this for thirty years now as well.Paul

You might want to rethink the aluminum paint as a sealer. Main purpose for aluminum paint is to let you reuse a fiber gasket. It works like an anti seize. Back in the 40's before every one seemed have pockets full of money it was common to reuse a head gasket. If you didn't coat both sides with aluminum paint it would stick fast to the head and block and pull apart.

I'm, not an expert but I've used Hylomar and it worked good and it doesn't ever set completely up so when you tear it down it's an easy clean up. Never leaked. It is a little high priced.
