Llight Tractors Pulling Heavy

With the increasing popularity of lower speed limits and top cut classes, some smaller tractors are choosing to weight up and pull with the bigger models with great success. Especially Allis Chalmers WC/WD/WD45. My own attempts are working fairly well with pulling a very stock MM Jet Star in 4500 & 5000#. The 240-260 cube AC are really dominant up into 5500#. Has anyone else been doing this and how is it going for you?

i have been pulling my wd45 all the way up to 6500 for several years now and it has outpulled some good 88s and Ms in the stock classes.

My main competition is WD45, 77, and 88. Josh Blackburn has pulled stroker Deere B's and won heavy too.

We pull a E-3 Co-op, and a Massey 101 over the 5,500 lb classes on clay tracks....The E-3 is much smaller than a wd, or wd 45..../ We also pull the same tractors in the 3750# classes....

I have a 240c.i. Farmall H that does better at 4500lbs and above. Won a 5500lb. class last fall.
Very good in 45-4700lb 4mph classes.

We have run our unstyled wc up into the 5500 div 2 many years. Its put 30,40,50 feet on the class many times and is only 240 ci the heavier you go the better it seems to pull. At nationals its dominated the 3500 and does just as well in the 4500 and 5500. we have a big cube allis to that we pull that heavy to that does very well. at Michigan tractor pullers first pull in saline took second in the 4500 against some of the toughest tractors out there pulling today

my oliver 77 is 265 cu. in. and I start at 4500 and go all the way up to 10,500, seems to do better as I add more weight. I've won the 7500, 85,95, and 10500 many times. Chuck

We have pulled our Farmall H up to 9000 pounds and won against 666's, 4020's, etc. in a 3mph pace class. Have also had our M up to 14,000 and won against prety much anything you can think of. You can't do it everywhere all of the time, but on the right track with the right sled on the right night with the right tires is a sweet thing!

The track we used to pull the 14 in has really toughened up the past few years, so we've geen stopping at 12,000 and sometimes puking it in that class... Never know if you don't hook and try!

Most everyone around the Michigan ohio area have small ci AC :) and they all do very well. Our little one is 240 and our big one is over 400.

Question for all the AC guys having success in 4000-6500 classes, are you running stock rubber or 38" tires? I would think 1st gear would be over 3mph with 38s.

Don"t be scared of competion. Them little lawn mower allis are not supposed to do good there anyways right... We have just got lucky... I say if you can scale it you can pull it just like D2T nationals. That is a class that was over due. Them small ci allises that bay talks about are in the money side of things that do not break our banks to compete with the 421s and alike in other models that get light

You can build them relatively cheap and compete with big ci tractors. That's the nice thing about the little old ac's

I pulled with a 1951 Farmall H in the 6500lbs class. Due to the low low first, I didn't power out. Lost traction. That to me means, I could've redistributed weight and gone farther.

(quoted from post at 02:16:51 07/24/13) We have pulled our Farmall H up to 9000 pounds and won against 666's, 4020's, etc. in a 3mph pace class.

I have a 1950 Farmall H that I'm currently getting ready for pulls. In my club, 3mph is the maximum speed. With my low low first I can pull the 6500# class no problem. Tell me, how do you get it up to 9000#? Where do you put the weight? On the wheels? I want to get my H into the 8000# class.

We have a rack across the entire back from wheel to wheel, a belly bar back under the brakes (casting with hole sticks out a bit), another belly bar out under the starter (bolt holes flush with casting), and a bar out front. We need to hang the "front" belly bar with mostly 150 pound wheel weights for it all to fit and weigh up to 9,000, but it's a lot easier than trying to put them on the wheels.

For the M, we have basically the same set of bars, plus we put about 10/side on the wheels. That's a pain though... and you really need to watch where you're driving!

some of them might br but mine is 260 cubes and the secret to it is a diesel rearend with the slower gear ratio. thats what keeps the power in the engine.i have 15.5x38 full cuts on it now and have had 16.9x38s and 18.4x38s on it and spend out

I like that. My association doesnt have a 9000# class but we do have 8000#. My goal is to get it in there. I know everyone there would be like "what the F is an H doing in this class"....
Without the low gears, this H would never pull in or over the 6500# class.
Transfer sled.

What is Maggie whoopen on you guys to much? I"ve been running my co op e 3 in 35,45,55 with great luck dead weight and did well on what little t sled I have pulled.
