I recently purchased a 1950 Farmall H. I have a spot for the Farmall H, as it was the tractor that dominated the farm I worked on in my teenage years. Now of course, the farmer, a long time friend of mine, has replaced all the gassers with newer diesels.
Anyways, I have used my friends tractors for tractor pulling and quickly decided that the scene is for me. The events we go to aren't just pulling. We camp the night before, and after the pull. Bon fires(depending on the location), cookouts and good people, and such.
So I decided to hunt for my Farmall H. But I didn't want just any H. The year wasn't important. The low low first gear was. I want it to pull good in the 6500# class. I didn't want a huge project, as getting it all ready for pulling was enough work for the time frame. The tractor I got, which I paid $1100 for has recently had the engine rebuilt within 10 years. 125 psi on all four. No abnormal transmission noises. The valve adjustment was out of whack but no biggie. Besides needing the brakes cleaned up, a new belt, a new hose and someday a decent paint job, she is ready to go. This is a picture when I got it. I will post the updates tonight or tomorrow. As of now, I got the rear weight rack all done with wheelie bars.
