John Deere 70

I have a good friend that is in need of some kind of gear reduction starter for his 70 factory starter with dual batteries just ain't doing it. Didn't know if this is possible with a 70 or not any help is greatly appreciated.

Dual batteries? You mean two six volt batteries? A quality single 12V group 31 battery should do.
What gauge are the battery cables?
Did somebody go and bolt the chassis return to the battery box instead of to the rockshaft casting below the battery box?
Is the engine failing to crank over TDC? Or is it cranking and fails to fire?
Odds are electrical system voltage is too low and there isn't enough spark energy to jump the gap.
Try starting while throttled back.

Tractor has two 12 volt batteries and I'm pretty sure it has oo cable the starter just caint hardly pull it through compression. How can we get in touch with Mark?

I don't think that our canadian friend realizes what it takes to get a built up 2 cyl. over the hump, besides an extra battery adds weight. I know that Mark has done several and they work good. Maybe he also has a solution for a starter on my CC as a gear reduction is the only thing that spins it over.

i need a gear reduction starter plate for a John Deere 70. if you have this available give me your phone number

Too much mechanical compression and/or too short of cam duration.
Compression pressure does not directly equal HP.
If more , more and more compression pressure improved the Brayton Cycle heat engine. Why are not diesels running 30 to 1 compression?
Torque on the crank is the difference between compression pressure and combustion pressure. Higher compression pressure without gaining a corresponding greater amount of combustion pressure does not equal more torque.
Working or effective pressure is a function of heat and pressure.
In short. Odds are that tractor would make more power with more cam to let it breath.

This is just a thought, how about a set of compression release valves, pretty cheap and a lot lighter than a set of 6v battery and a lot cheaper than a new starter set up. It was a long time ago, but I know our 70 had the holes in the block.
