I was reading a old HOOK mag. that had a article about msd that said msd had firing thru 20 degrees of timing.Would that mean you could run richer due to having more spark than if you werent using it ?

you will make the most power with a air fuel ratio 14.7-1 no mater
how m uch spark you have msd dont make horsepower ,the just
insure you get a good spark

We ran some test on the dyno with o2 sensor. What we
found was a carb on a 12 volt battery powered msd with
the proper stoich needed fattened up when the 12 volt
battery was removed and a 16 volt race battery was hooked
to the msd box.

14.7 is merely theoretical. Like in a lab. The best mixture for power is dynamic. Engine temp, cam profile, port volume, velocity, humidity, barometric pressure, compression psi, fuel quality & chemical makeup, valve size, chamber design. Rpm, spark plug heat range etc all play a significant part. A myriad of factors determine air/fuel rati

2 sensors read left over oxygen for that reason. Was it used up or not? Before that you read spark plugs.
