I have an hd800 that has about 500 hours on a rebuild so its in good shape. We took 90 pounds off of the diesel flywheel outher than that its stone stock. The local rules alow 3000 rpm in the open clases. Id like to keep the rods on the inside, how may rpm is it good for? thanks.

that seems odd to me. all the drag racers and super farm pullers I know run lightened flywheels. Im talking about running 3000 not 6000.

You are going to need some stiffer valve springs because the valves will float at about 2300. Murphy's has a good set.

mmfan, can you shoot me an e-mail? I think you"re one of the guys I talked with at Tunica this past year.

Thanks,

those guys all run steel flywheels though.
like they said though you're limited to stock without stiffer valve springs.

You can run 3000 without any problems, You will need stiffer valve springs like they said. BUT, you will not get the airflow thru the heads to make any power at that RPM. It will run at 3000 until the load comes on and they right back to 1800 RPMs

NONE of which are modified stock Wheels. They're all purpose-built & of far better material. How did you engineer where to remove material & what that did to the integrity of it?
