Floating Hitch

I'd like to hear the explanation of the physics behind the floating hitch myself and see a model to go with it.

Is"nt that a clear violation of most pulls rules, Generally all hitches have to be stationary in all directions. Maybe there something out there that the tech people ought to be checking.

Two years ago there was a different color tractor pulling, with a hitch that came out and up as the slack was taken out. The driver did very well with it that season. Lots of guys discussed it when watching track side. It was said well it's a transfer sled so why not a transfer hitch? Another said "Well that's the way it as built" Someone said that he had commented about it to the owner but that the owner didn't see a problem with it. Any way it didn't come back the next year.

Ya the way is was built or bought, not right, driver doesn"t get to make the rules on what is acceptable !!!!!!! Have seen some hitches with hole far forward too so chain is "shortened" when going over extra material.

I kinda think of a IHC 2-point hitch. The harder you pull on them the lower the front, under the belly goes down. Making the hitch point go up. Had a MT John Deere their hitch worked on the same principal when hooked to its plow, only on them you can pin the lift arms. Vic

There used to be an H farmall down in Tennessee that had a swinging drawbar. Had a factory style drawbar that had springs between the axel bracket & the drawbar loop. When he pulled the chain tight it would pivot on the adjustable supports & it would swing up and out. Only tractor I ever seen that would tote a full rack of front weights on a crappy track. Lol. I think he finally got throwed out of most of the clubs.
