Another Power block question

if im not mistaking you have to use the later head may also have oiling issue to deal with on the rockers im getting ready to bolt one to a 44 crank case with a 40 flat head currently running late clock with flat head

- Crankcase mounting is the same from 39-52.
- Heads are unique on 39-40 (different bolt pattern than later ones).
- Heads from 41-52 all interchange.
- Water manifold is different on 41-46 vs. 47-52 (physical shape of outlet on block is different as is function of manifold. Manifold on later ones has mounts for hood/gas tank)
- 47-52 blocks don"t have tapped holes to tie the frame into the blocks like the earlier ones. Should be room at the front of the 5-2 that you could drill them yourself.

- I"ve heard people egg shaping the holes on the 39/40 head to put on later blocks.
- I don"t have one here, but I was thinking the 39/40 was a POS as far as runners goes, so yes, it ups the compression, but the sacrifice is flow.
- I dom"t think the 39 has provisions for pressure lube on the rockers, so guessing you"d need ro run a line from somewhere to the rockers as well.

Did you need those for the early or late stock block or Powerblock?

I should have 4.75" and 4.875" on hand and some 5.125" and 5.25" for powerblocks here soon.

Thanks,

I will need 6 1/4 for g stock block and 5 1/8 for b power block but b power block will have to be sent to u or someone to have relief valves put in it, not running starter
