I got an H. Was wanting to add an M to my stable. Saw an ad in THE HOOK for an M...$27, 500....you got to be kidding me!!!! I don't care if Katy Perry comes with it!!! By the way...does the floater hitch that let's it win jackpot classes, is that included!! $27, 500 that is funny for a 100 Horsepower M!!!!!!!

If your referencing Benjamin's M, I've seen some pretty stupid posts on here but this one takes the cake. Congrats. Yeah it's a lot. Yes it is a trophy winner. Yes it one more jackpots than any other tractor out there. Go ahead build one just like it and see how much you have in it. To also come on here and say he cheats using a floating hitch is absolutely ridiculous and cowardly. I've pulled against jim and his family since the first day I started pullin. I've heard every excuse from people about how he cheats. Hell I've heard stories of people saying before he pulls on scales he will put a rock under them to be able have more weight. Lmao. People will do and say anything. People like you are exactly why one of the best tractor pulling families out there are selling there equipment Let's bash someone for being a fantastic puller. Grow up

Josh you took the words right out of my mouth. This is exactly why Jim is selling out. Crybabies that are clueless.

This quote was never more true than in your case, "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

You beat me to it josh, word for word. It's statistically got to be the most dominant tractor at least since I've been pulling. I guarantee, to the original poster, you probably couldn't do better. Jims a very talented detail oriented guy and a heck of a guy, also.

A lot of work and care has gone into that tractor. No floating hitch on that machine.

I have seen it in Tunica and it is everything Jim says it is.

There's a Pat Green song, "If I had a million" ........ I don't.

This is a problem that exists everywhere in the sport of antique tractor pulling. It has just surfaced regarding one of the best pullers and one of the best tractors. Someone will always feel that they should automatically be the winner by default, and if anybody ever was to beat them, well then it begins. Anybody with a working ear will get to hear all the cr@p about cheating, hitches, rpm's, weight, weather or not it belongs in that division, etc.

I too have seen a good long time tractor puller sell out and quit because a cry baby wouldn't just shut up and quit complaining about his tractor.

The cry babies need to either get off their wallet, or pick up the wrenches. Winning a pull because you cried to the point that the better tractors stayed home isn't a victory in anyone's mind but your own.

100 horsepower? Ha! My UB dynoes 98hp and that M can utterly and completely out power me. I'm guessing it's got at least 50 horses on me. There's a lot of time, expense, and effort that Jim has given to make it the most competitive M in the country. Josh has it 100% dead on. It's folks like Jim and his family that put the icing on the cake that IS the sport of pulling. Ridiculous price? Then don't buy it. Stating publicly that it's an outrageous price, then labeling Jim a cheater is a childish display of mental and/or physical self-inadequacy. The ONLY thing I can agree upon, is that yes, Katy Perry would indeed add value to the deal.

I certainly hope it is NOT true that Jim is getting out of pulling.. he's one of the nicest guys, and certainly someone I look forward to seeing several times a year along with his wife, son and daughter.

SIDENOTE:

Josh,

CAFPC has added 3250,4000,5000, & 6000# weights to it's 4&5mph class roster. There may also be a new 3mph 15.5 TC class using the same rules as 4&5mph (old 3mph remains relatively unchanged). Details of the 3mph class split will be discussed, debated, and voted on at the next CAFPC meeting. I'm hoping the 3TC idea will generate great interest with a little promotion (and maybe even coax my angry friend Brad Turner and his Dark Horse 88 to join us again). On March 30th, we'll know how this idea plays out with the membership.

Ethan

Just want to see a picture of a floater hitch. Though you might have one since you know so much about it. Would it work on my snow blade?

You know a lot of times you have to consider the source that is posting stuff like this!Jim has pulled against me going on at least 15 years.I don't usally speak out very much, but this time I will because when Jim started pulling he actually told me he was coming after me because I had a M then that was hard to beat.Jim proved his point and made me a way better puller.I will also tell you I have had so much help along the way from Jim and a group of very good friends that will help you to beat each other to make all of us better pullers. That is what makes you a good tractor puller, not cheating or being accused of it.Start pricing out stuff to build a M just like Jims and see what you come up with!!!!!!!!!!!P.S don't forget to include your time you have in it!!!Good luck.

Jim is a great puller and most of all a great person. I have teched his tractor several times at sigourney and I can guarantee that his hitch doesn't "float". I personally really hope Jim doesn't sell the M and can keep on making people like you look for excuses.

Jim is a very respecfull person. You shouldnt talk bad about him. As far as the price for that tractor that is a deal. To build an engine that cubic inch costs more than 27500.00 Jim has always been very competitive and a very good person to ask a question and get answers from. If he is cheating with his hitch you could bet that he would have been called out on it. Pullers at those pulls always watch everything. You should build a tractor once that is as competitive as his and see what money you have in it. Just my opinion. Dave Thompson jr.

You better stop and think that the skill level of Jim to get down the track do as much or more than that tractor. I have pulled against him a few times and have been amazed at his skill and person on and off the track. Go ahead, buy it, you may not be smart enough to run it. Good luck either way.

I will add my 2 cents worth, Jim Benjamin is one of the best pullers I know. His tractor is an extremely good tractor, he has won numerous times at tunica and I have never noticed his floating hitch. All I ever noticed was he had his $hit together. He and his family are the absolute nicest people I have ever known. Instead of calling him a cheater because he is successful I would suggest paying attention to him and you might learn something. I would agree with the previous post, start building a M that will compete with his and you might be surprised to discover what it would cost.

Cant help but agree with Josh and Kieth on this one I was fortunate enough to meet Jim at Tunica one helluva nice guy Good thing his tractor aint green or i would have to have it!! HEY Jim build me an 88!!ha ha!!

I dont know this person but have seen the tractor and it is very competve.I have been beat by tractors that had half the horse power that i have.We need to rember this is a sport and you will win some and loose some. But you go to have a good time and when you leave home you will win some and loose some but had a good time either way.

I'd give him $5000 max! If it looks and runs likes Thompson M..then $4000. The coffee mug and fake smile is FAKE!!!! what a joke!

I agree with the comments below. Have you ever seen Jim at a pull? He spends more time studying the track and going over his setup than probably 95% of other pullers. I met him at Tunica and have seen his tractor pull to victory there two years in a row at two different weights and speeds. That is a VERY difficult and amazing accomplishment. I have also looked over his tractor and noticed it was well compliant with the rules.

Right now Jim Benjamin is like the Michael Jordan of tractor pulling. When Air Jordan won 6 championships on the basketball court, do you think the other players in the league thought he was a cheater? No because Jordan spent the time to become great at the game. He would even practice free throws after games that he won, simply because he had the drive to be better. My point is that greatness of this magnitude should always be looked upon with admiration, rather than jealousy. There seems to be lots of guys out there who think if they never touch their tractor between pulls or make any adjustments at the pull that they should be able to show up and expect to win. You can't expect a full pull without fine adjustments any more than you can expect a 3pt buzzer beater without practice. Anyway, think of how many kids Jordan inspired with his drive and commitment to the game both on and off the court. I hope there are youngsters who are saying "I want to pull like Jim Benjamin". I want be in on the t-shirt royalties for that one. :)

Now for the more technical stuff. The tractor is listed at 525 cubic inch. I've seen him beat much bigger 6 cylinder MM's in the 7250 KOH class. That folks is called tires, weight balance and driving. The tractor is amazing and so is his driving skill and balance intuition. In my opinion, a tractor of that caliber is worth the money and the chance to talk to the seller during the transaction to learn how to properly pull it would be priceless.

I do not know either party here, but after seeing these post i can say this...by the sound of this you can not take being beat, or are jelious of him in some sort of way.....Idk (I am not saying or acusing you of this in anyway), but sounds like a person who's cheeting and mad because you still got beat by a honest puller with smaller ci motor....or just jellous what someone will pay for a top notch pulling m.....idk

I am not here to start anything or bash you in anyway just how it looks in this post with your comments....I respect everyone good luck

I also agree with the positive comments below. I too have met Jim at tunica pull, I dont know him very well but appears to be a great guy and watch him watch the track... he brings his game face to the pull. He has the best set up for the track rather its tires/weight and driving skills and or a combo of all of them.

I have seen many good tractors pull against him and the owners omit they messed up should of put another weight there... wrong tires for the class and so on.

From my understanding he bulids motors so I am sure that only helps him . Im sure he knows a few tricks with building engines.

To the original message... $27,500 for a 100 hp M ? well if you think thats only a 100 hp, go build a 100 hp M or tractor and go pull against Jim. I will bet you $27,500 that you will never beat Jim on his worst day. You might want to stay out of his class.

I also have several videos of his winning big Pulls and can tell you this there was no floating hitch his front end was down the whole time and he knew when to open are up and make that engine sing.

I agree scott,he has beaten me more times than ive beat him ,but he is always the first one there to shake your hand win or lose.

Jim has no idea who I am, I think I only pulled against him once or twice. I actually beat him in 6500 in Bronson, MI. in 2005. That was years ago. The guy has won many bigger pulls since. Feel pretty good to beat one of the best! Don't worry about someone trying to stir trouble. Jim seemed to be a good guy to me.

Well, this has been five minutes of my life reading that I got nothing from and wont ever get that time back. I'm going to get back to work now, thats how you make things happen. Jeff Gravert

I admire people who are at the top of the sport no matter what color you drive. Jim and his M are most definitely among the top.So farmall forever to be blunt quit whining.
Ray

I was at tunica for the first time this year and was very impressed with Jim and the m. I would really hope he would not sell out because he inspires me and many others to get better at what we do to try to get to the level he is at. To win at the level as many times as he has is very much impressive.i am very certain that I never have or will make money tractor pulling and do it for the love of the chase, old tractors and the people you meet and talk to along the way. From what I saw of Jim at tunica he seemed to be a humble guy and very much feeling the pressure to win and stay on top of his game. Keep on pulling Jim ! DS

Hi
I am not gonna get involved with the bash Jim deal or what ever the O.P may be up too. I don't know him his tractor or anything.
I would just like to comment on what you said about "Don't forget your Time".
I have restored,or fixed up many different older tractors and sold them.
you never get back your time if you bill it out properly.
The last Fordson I did sold for $3500. If I put my time in at say our Manitoba minimum wage of just over $10 that would of been a $10.000 tractor with buying it , parts, and my time.
If your gonna do this for the money don't bother you'll never see the time spent money in the bank. you do it for the fun. Trust me I know, that Fordson would still be here and taking up space at my retirement sale in 25 years time L.O.L
Regards Robert

Then to me he is missing the best part of a pull, talking to the other pullers! I don't pay enough attention but i learn a few things, make a new friend or two and have fun visiting with everybody. To me that's what pulling is about, not that i don't like to do good but it's not my main focus. I'm sure everybody has differen't views on this.

Exactly Josh, I didn"t know Jim was selling but if this is the reason I"m really sorry for that. Jim is a great guy and it goes without saying better than this guy will ever be. It"s too bad when this kind of thing goes on. If you can"t stand to get beat then find another hobby, with me if I win I want to win against the best competition out there and that is what Jim is but along with that a great guy to talk to and have fun with. I"ll never understand people like Farmall Forever and I thank God for that.

I hope he still comes to sigorney this year with it. I have been gunning for that tractor and his kids for years almost got him last year it would be a real shame because of some peoples whinning and crying that a person gets pushed out of pulling even if u don"t like the guy not say I don"t like him but it makes me want to work even harder to beat them. there is a thing called sportsmanship. Just remember this the distance u hope to achive is measured by the depth of ur wallet

Don"t know who "farmall forever" is, but I do know Jim. Honest, hard working competitor and I"m proud to think of him as a friend.

Whomever gets the tractor will have the best there is, but only 50% of the combo. The guy in the seat had a lot to do with it.

Jim and family have always been gracious to me at every turn and I have a great deal of respect for his ability to wheel that tractor to the winners circle. I spend a lot of time watching the better drivers and I can count on one hand the folks who study the track and adjust for conditions like he does. As for the tractor I think its well worth it, you can't build that good of a tractor for that price. What Jim has done on that M is a perfect storm of man and machine in harmony. I wish Jim the best in whatever he does once it's sold.

Farmall Forever it seems that nobody really answered your question. You can not build turn key puller like that for that kinda money. There is a lot of cost that go into these tractors beside the motor. The starter alone proably cost 500 and many more little things that you dont see.It takes dollors and more dollors for all of these things. But dont buy it thinking that you wont get beat becuse no body has built that tractor yet.

If you buy that tractor, Jim needs to go with the deal because he knows how to set it, where to hang weights, how to cut tires, & air pressure.

This schmuck got exactly what he/she wanted. Just another anonymous, no-name shaking the sour grape vine in an attempt at shrouding one's own short comings. Contempt, jealousy, whatever, get over it. Smile!

Going to be weird without the Benjamin's at tractor pulls, also means I won't have to work as hard to try to be at the front.

Sounds like you have the cheater hitch and you got beet pulled with guys like you .you probably payed 4000.00 for dennys gonenor spring know you dont have the money to buy a real tractor.

I'm not trying to knock Jim or anything but nobody gets their money back out of their pulling tractor when they sell it. I know of a guy trying to sell a 125k alky LSS for around 45k and last I heard he still has it. That's only one example, get on pulloff and you can find many more.

The market for that tractor is extremely limited, for the same price a guy could buy a competitive super farm/pro farm or even the right LLSS and have way more fun.

I hear comments like this on occasion and being one that has never actually pulled a Super or LLSS I have attended numerous pulls over the years. While I think the ride would be awesome I don't know how it can be said that pulling at that level is more fun than pulling antiques.

I have several pulls within 100 miles every weekend that I can choose from and I can usually hook my tractor about 4 times per event. While the competitive side of pulling is fun and challenging, the enjoyable part is hanging out, BSing and having a real good time with the people involved in antique pulling. These are some of the nicest down to earth people a person will ever meet.

Traveling hundreds of miles to hook once, is it really more fun?

Sounds the same as many motor sports, poor losers, poor sportsmanship, always has been and always will be around competitive sporting events.I listened, watched and respected the guys winning, grew up and am good at what I have passion for,am respected by my peers for being tough to beat,a good track reader and much more.Powerful engines do not win pulls, many little things count up to give good results. We need guys like Jim to give to the sport because some guys cry because of their lack of ability and moral standing, ethics and personal strength.Being on TOP is always reason to have a target on your back, friends make pulling the best, family and camaraderie help add to the wins.

I guess it's not like that around here. All we have are farm stock pulls so if you have an antique tractor you will hook once like everyone else.

As far as an LSS or super farm, I had had one there is a pull every single weekend within a short drive. There would be absolutely no reason to drive 100 miles around here for a pull.

Kinda funny how things work in different areas isn't it?

Hi
a pulling tractor like Jims is $27.000. I just paid $35.000 for a 2000 Valtra 6400 that I can use on my farm every day, not just at weekends/holidays. I Am also earning money working with it not loosing it!. I don't have to haul it anyplace, and the only childish B/S that I have to deal with is trying to keep the old man off it, so I get to drive it once in a while L.O.L.
With the economy the way it is and it probably getting worse who has that cash laying around for expensive toys.
I doubt any of these expensive pull tractors will sell for even close to asking or even at all in the next few years. There are some fancy 3/4 ton trucks round here for sale nobody wants them Guys are tryin to keep roofs over there heads and feed the family.
Regards Robert

Did you know that there are stroker engines sold for antique tractors everyday that cost north of $20,000?

People have money, especially older guys that want to check off the old bucket list "Antique tractor pulling at the national level"
