enough cooling?

I just purchased an aluminum radiator that's for a Honda civic with an electric fan. I also got a 5 gpm electric water pump. Will this be enough to keep a stock cubic inch wd 45 that will only be used for pulling cool?
 
That's about the same set up I will be running on my jd g.. My motor isn't crazy but it's more that stock and that's a lot more that your wd. I figure that the aluminum radiator water pump and fan has to cool way better than my stock unit, if it runs too hot I will put two fans on it. There is a fellow yt'er that just did this on an jd a and it looks really good..
 
Just run a catch can. With distiller water and no system pressure. The system will max out at 212F and make steam? Won't matter due to short operation time, won't run out of coolant.
 

How does the horse power of the Honda Civic engine compare to the horse power of your WD 45? If you provide similar air and water flow to the radiator it should provide similar cooling for the WD 45 in terms of horse power. Note the Honda would have used a pressurized cap and this should be retained to prevent boiling. Boiling over is harmless if you catch the fluid however localized boiling inside the engine can cause hot spots and promote detonation.
 
As long as there is sufficient cooant flow. Some
localized nucleate boiling will do no harm. And
actually run the engine cooler than a pressurized
system with 50/50.
 
I think youll be fine . i ran a 5 gpm pump on the wd radiator and the water ran in reverse flow through the cylinder head only.
 
Was told that you should have a housing in ftr. of rad. to direct air flow throw it. I guess this makes sense. Maybe someone has a different, or better idea?
 
I have one on a Farmall M with a 12v pump. It is marginal at best. One hook and cool is OK. Two hooks within 15 min it's going to overheat.
