i was thinking of shaving and porting the head, what other little tips and tricks can i do?
of course i cant mess with it too much to keep it in stock class.

thanks,

BP, thanks for the good ideas, where can I find a hotter 6volt coil ? What kind of wires? Like silicon ones? Using d21 champions, what's hotter ?

Do yourself a favor and switch over to 12v. Then call CBS Performance and get an Ignitor, a flamethrower coil, and a set of their plugwires (can"t use solid core w/Ignitor). You should be able to take .100" off the head without running out of threads on the studs or shimming the rocker shaft pedestals. Open up the area under the intake valve, and find a 62 series carb (just like yours but with 1 7/16" butterfly instead of 1 1/4").

What kind of tractor or engine had the bigger carburetor? Is it a zenith carb or marvel? What about ignition timing settings?

It is a Zenith carb and it is identical to yours on the outside (the bottoms will interchange). I got mine from Treadwell Carb (Treadwell, NY). I believe they were use on a Leroi industrial engine.
