IH H spark plugs

i use champion d16's. all i hear is their junk, have proved to my self that they are a better built plug. i was changing plugs in my 400 which had autolites. one was siezed and broke off. i removed it with an easy out. what i found was the body was way thinner than the champions. and i also have found more faulty autolites then champions in my tractors so thats my reason to stick with champion. and also thats what they came with. and also i like the silver finish on them . thats my reasons.

it all depends on what you are doing with the tractor. for putsing around the yard stop and go ... yes. but in the field working under full load its d16 as the tractor came from factory with. i use mine in the field also.
everyone jumps on the band wagon and bashes champions all the time without giving a reason or any proof of plug failures. i tryed both and have better luck with champions.
another example i have is... i bought a massey 44 on auction sale they did not start it. i then started it and it was missing but what to do now, so i started to drive it home about 60 miles. it just kept missing and only running on 2 cyl's. so i drove into another farmers yard and asked if he had any old spark plugs i could buy cause i saw he had a d case sitting there. he gave me 2 used d16's from that case and i put them in the massey that had autolites which 2 were dead . then the massey ran like a top all the way home. paid 400.00 for the massey and drove it home 60 miles.

the tractor is just for pulling its higher compression than stock I'm just curious what kinda plug works best for that application. thanks everyone for their responses. how long did that 60 mile ride take that's awesome?

I've had 2 Champion D16s that were dead right out of the box. Is that enough proof?

guess you would have to check the plugs after some pulling to see how they are doing. should be alright.
it took less than 5 hrs.

What plugs do you run in your motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV or personal watercraft? Not champions not autolights both not good enough. NGK try them and you will forget all about the rest

Mr Baker Ive been wondering if I was the only one running NGKs. I keep couple boxes around really dont know why never had one to fail in my opion they are the only kind for the fuel and compression that we all run, kinda like the 13-16 nut instead of the 7-8 like all the rest have also. I would use them if they were 50.00 bucks each.

I was wondering about ngk s, that was gonna be my next question. my father swears by them he tells me about seeing brand new champions being bad, like someone else mentioned here. Gary- do you know a part number for the ngk plugs that work best in an HH, thanks

Nick, just take the plug you are currently using and have autoparts store convert to NGK. I am using a tappered seat extended reach plug #WR4-1

A Champion that is not resistor or is not the dreaded dual gap . Is a different and troublesome animal than the mostly reliable plain non resistor Champion.
That said and even though I'm not a Ford fan per say. But I do keep Autolite 3116, 216 and 437 plugs on hand. Solid core plug wires too.

indexing the autolite plugs helped alot. found the electrode opening was facing 4 different directions on 4 new plugs when tightened down. got em all aimed at 7 oclock n was worth 2hp n better mannors.

Sorry, inytended to say that dual gap Champions and resisitor plugs of any brand. Are more troublesome that a plain non resistor plug of any brand.

Generally higher compression mandates a colder plug at some point, depends on fuel octane, mixture rich/lean, & coolant temp. The hottest plug that doesn't cause detonation is whats desired. Old Chiltons manuals have nice pictures of plugs describing how to 'read' the plugs & determine proper mixture & plug heat range.
Good luck!

ok that's what I'll do thank you sir. the reason I'm asking for the specific plug is I want to get the plug that's in the correct heat range. I'm a diesel mechanic so spark plugs aren't really my thing haha
