Any advice/ideas for shipping a tractor

Can anyone point me in the right direction for
finding someone who may be able to ship a tractor
all or part of the way from Ohio to Texas? Any
information or suggestions is appreciated; email is
fine too.

Thanks

Look in the phone book for some of your local trucking companies or brokers, They can find you somebody local or find somebody that can do it. It will be a lot cheaper if both places have a loading dock if it will fit on a standard drop deck. Be a lot more if it has to go by lowboy.
OR,
you could take it all apart and ship it UPS or FEDEX in lots of boxs. LOL

You will get a better price if you look at trucking co. and freight brokers in Texas rather in OH. A trucker will give you a better price if the load is taking him or her back home. You will need to know the height, width(don t for get the axles),length and weight. One other very important thing, do you have a loading dock to use or pay to use? If the trucker needs his own ramps you have narrowed down the ones that can haul your load.

you need to get a trucking company to haul it as a backhaul... a truck that is returning empty, that way get a better deal on rates. or get a truck that can just add it to his load that normally travels the route. thats the best way other than hauling yourself.

Try hauling schedule at left side under Community. The key to lower shipping rates is to let trucker schedule it with something else and not be in a big hurry.Trucking rates for Semis is usually close to the price of diesel[$3.50 a mile]You could call Shipping Wars the reality trucking[fake show]and get that hot brunette or long haired guy that is never happy. They cut each others throats to haul cheaply.

I'm in the trucking business and have tried this but the item is usually way out of the way but when you tell them what the price is for going that far they get upset and then I hear what a cheat I am so I quit trying to do it. There is no charity trucking company that I know of. If you bought it and didn't figure in a decent price for hauling then you won't like what you get. Responsible trucking companies are that because they know how to make a living at what they do. The fly by nights are called that for a reason.

Be careful if you go with the hauling schedule on this or any other site. There are a lot of good people and legitimate haulers but there are also some crooks.
I found a really reasonable shipper that I used a few times on the hauling schedule but the last time I needed something moved it turned out he had retired.

My last move I used this broker and the price was reasonable...

You might save a couple bucks hunting for a ride on your own but this is the easy sure thing. When I searched out ways to get a F450 hauled from Wyoming to PA he was who I used. I did a lot of checking around first and what impressed me most was his BBB rating and lack of any issues. Most all others had far less years and had a long list of resolved issues included in their reports. I prefer no issues over resolved ones...!
