Super C Farmall

A guy that I work with bought one and wants to make a pulling tractor out of it for division 3. What does it take to make one that will have the power and be at the top of the class with plenty of power. I told him to go with a Farmall M and pull many classes but he already bought it. What hp can you get out of the tractor if the money is available.

(quoted from post at 09:07:11 12/21/12) I have a 153 motor that is already to bolt right into that tractor. Located in PA

C-153 is a good choice, depending on where you live. Dave's in IN and assume looking to run NATPA. Can't run the C-153 if running NATPA "Tractors must have the stock engine, frames, transmission, rear end and axle housings or manufacturer's replacement for make and model of tractor being pulled . Stock heads and their replacements are to remain unchanged in outside appearance"

Dave, it's like any other engine, bore it, stroke it, cam, carb, head. You're up there in Gary's territory, he would obviously be a good man to discuss with. E-mail me if you want to discuss other options

Just my opinion, but if I were your friend I wouldn't take the time or money to try and build a div 3 puller from a C. Tell him to pull it farm stock and look for a better tractor to build up. He may have a chance in 3250#, but at 3500# the farmall h's and allis wc's are gonna kill him.

3 and 1/2 Miles per hour
Wauseon Is the Toughest track that I been to!

Shaggy s Su C has a good Stock C-153 and he was 20 ft Behind. In 3250 div 3!
Most warmed over C-153 just Wont cut it at Wauseon in Div 3!
You need s built engine like any other Div 3 class!
They would be OK at Tallmadge and other sandy tracks!
Div 2 or 2T may be a more Competitive class with a 18 inch Drawbar and 3mph that requires Less HP for most C on a budget!

My good friend Ron Zieder had an allis he bought that just didnt have enough power. We sent the cylnder head manifold and carbuerator to Gary and he made it a totally different tractor. Ron always wanted to take it to an NATPA pull but got sick and never was able to do so. I agree that the allis and h Farmalls would make it difficult for a Super C to stay with them.

Dave, didn't Gary build that motor? I was at the nciatpa pull in goshen back in like 05 or so and I remember talking to a guy with an ac who said baker did it...looked like z's tractor..but I've got a fuzzy memory

Wildman would have no prolem being competive at 4500.He will not pull much hevier then that on acount of rear end prolems. This is a very competive tractor and will stay with Hs & WCs.I know who built it but will not say but think if you get ahold of him he would tell you.

Rons son Steven bought it Gary built a short block for the previous owner. when the previous owner installed it he put a head done from NAPA on it and a dennys carb. when they put the water pump on they used to long of a bolt and it put a dimple in the liner on the number one cylnder when steven started pulling it it knocked the rings out of number one and smoked like heck. Ron took it to his shop and I tore it down and found the problem and had a new sleeve made my Paul Marlett. I didnt even know of Gary Baker at that time. I believe it had 4020 John Deere liners in it. I rebuilt the Block and stuck the head back on it. Eventually I pulled the head and drove it to Garys a year later and he redone the head manifold and built a good carbuerator for it. It was a total different tractor then. Very good running tractor. I miss seeing it pull and going to pulls with my Friend Ron. He was a great guy and would do anything for anybody.

Yeah, I met him once I think. He was a great guy. It seems like as soon.as we find somethin we like, life yanks the rug out.
