Ferguson 50 engine build

I am about like Eric, only dummer. I am going to try to make a Ferguson into a winning 3 to 4 mph puller in the 3500 to 4000 lb class for a friend. I think this engine is a Continental. Have just seen one pull at Princeton In. and this is it. We need to know if a head or intake will work from a bigger motor. Thanks Vic

not this is much help but we had a guy that pulled 1 at our local pulls it done real well but it was stock!

Thanks I went to Princeton In. The week before and did the best of my life. Won the 3500 and Pulled it out the door in the 4000 then just for a hoot entered the 6 mph and got second. So I figured my luck was over but the next week, got lucky again at Tunica. Yes you need to make it down. Great people and a great building. It is big enough Cale had his sled in the back (you can practice for $10 a hook anytime) also a scales. So when you get in line for your scales you should be within one weight of being right. Vic

That 50 at princiton was stock also.They are conetal ehgines.I tougth a 65 engine would bolt in but he said not.There use to be a real good 65 pull in In. I would emagine that E Bloom would know who it was.I dont know how they compair to a 50 but if you can get weight down that would be the way to go.

We have heard a 65 engine would bolt in. I looked on the specs page and the 65 is just 30 cu more. Those engines are high. have found a 133 like it has for 400. I"m thinking about just seeing how long a arm will swing inside with about a 1.8 crank-pin. Then see how big a sleeve will work with out moving the head bolts. A 85 is just 230 cu I think. That should be enough. Maybe we can make a 85 manafold work with a little tweaking! One thing about them they have a few good gear ratios. like your H. Sure missed you at Tunica. maybe next year. 410 had a 6 cylinder chev 290 510 had a 327 chev V8.

Vic the 410 had the AD 4.302 perkins. Same as the 318 but a tad less stroke. I have the 302 in my coop. You have seen it pull.

Thanks Guys. I've already learned quite a bit more about Massey's. My friend has bought a new 85 hp Massey. He thinks it has a 276 cu 4 cyl. Is this the same block. ps: it has a turbo. He called me yesterday and said, wouldn't get his new tractor today. The guy delivering it had forgot to check if the doors were shut, and the right one had dissapeared. SSo he hasn't got his new tractor yet. Vic
