Will a 70 john deere diesel flywheel work on a 720 diesel john deere? My 720 has play in the flywheel and was wondered if I could use anything to shim it up and make it tight. The person before me must have run it loose. I would like to use what I have Thanks again for any help.

Thanks Mike I know where I can get one off of a 70 that has been sitting for a long time and wanted to try and use that flywheel.

Just looked at my number on my flywheel and it was F1913R was that still for the 720 or could someone have put the wrong flywheel on it?

Install a taper-loc flywheel.
Some time or other some slob worked on the tractor without a torque wrench. They either under torqued the flywheel bolts and let the flywheel slide. Or they over torqued the flywheel bolts and stretched the bolts which reduced the clamping force. And the flywheel slid.
So for the lack of of a few minutes and some care. The crank and flywheel are ruined.

It wont work for long if at all. Yhe crank is worn now so a taperloc is the only solution short of an nos crank & perfect flywheel.
