I have an oliver 1800A that im considering to make a puller out of. how light do you think i could make it by totaly stripping it down but still using the tub frame.Hopefully will be getting a 195 gk engine to put in it. thanks

If your going to use the 195 engine why not just sell the 1800 and buy a 77 or 88? You can get to a much lighter class.

Oliver 1800, I have no idea what classes your trying to get into or what your going to be using the tractor for other than pulling, but if you could find a 1850 tub that used to have the perkins in it and then do a cummins swap you would probably end up a lot better off. Brian Mauss has this exact set up covered up with WHITE tin. If you where to go this route you could sell the 195gk motor to some antique guy for some extra $'s. There's some that think very highly of those 4-main blocks..........HaHa.

Sorry! Forot to mention Brian is not using the perkins tub, its a custom one. The rearend though is from a 1800.

A lot depends on your local classes, rules and you competition.

For the 1800 in a naturally aspirated class I would start with a 310 gas and work up from there.

i know an 1800 is not the best choice of tractors. im just trying to work with what i have and i can understand why the 310 could be a better choice. If i could get the tractor to 6000 lbs it could be worth doing, but i dont think i can get it that light. And yes a cummins would be alot of fun!

Working with what you have is nice, but you still have to think of where you want to get to and what the total bill will be. Sometimes you just have to say well, I need to cut back on the bucks a little and take a different route. Then you can still have some left to spend on the wife or girl friend LOL.
