I want to put a 403 in a u. From what ive read I need to switch the 6 inch crank, rods, jugs, and of course pistons. Does this sound correct? I would like to know if its possible before I start. Thanks! |

| Thanks for the response I have a u with a narrow front I am thinking about using. I guess I didn't know that the whole engine could be swapped, which would be easier to do for me. I wanna keep my gtb running so I am thinking about using the 283 for it. Thanks again |

| A 403 will bolt in but the bell housing must be trimmed a hair on the tranny to allow the larger starter gear of the 403. Or... as you said, swap parts into your crankcase. Or... use shoter pistons, U rods, and M5 blocks to get there and have stock deck height. |
