got a 88 with the m&w kit head work done runs good but looking fer more power. how difficult is it to stroke it 1.25". I know machine work and grinding is involved but its a wet cylinder. what has to be done to not cause leaks dont really wanna run oil in the radiator. and who is good to send the crank and cam to for grinding and off setting? any info will be greatly appreciated. |

Yes sbc or sbf will work.... but you have to have wrist pin bushings made and you have to calculate your compression height for your stroke and rod length, and figure out what dome or flat top will work with your compression requirements.......I have a 4.500 stroke 195gk crank with billitt rods for sale if interested give me an email address |

4.125 is good, but would still have to bore the block so why not go to at least 4.25....
If it is at 3.875" could bore those to 4.030" and maybe 4.060" and stroke it 0.75"-1.00" would be a little cheaper since already have those installed
The buda rods are good and the massey 65 are too |

| Mine is 4.125x5.250 421 cid turning 2500rpm,Very strong engine.Billet rods and a solid cam,no grinding anywhere needed....And its been running since 1999,I would say easy 1000+ hooks on the engine.Build it once, build it right and it will last. |

| If you bore the top "lip" out on cylinder bores, and have sleeves made that sit on the bottom bore, at the bottom of the water jacket, a Chevy 427 piston can fit. With a mild crank 4 3/8", you'll have 383 ci. Depending on your compression, timing, cam and fuel, 100+ hp is possible. At 10:1 compression, 125 is attainable with racing gasoline. |

| Yes-your rod ratio stinks with that small of bore and that big of crank. Also hard on sleeves. If you have 85 hp with just M&W kit wow. And 140hp with 410 cu. again-wow. Like they said-if your going to all that trouble you might as well go with a bigger bore too. up to 4.375 and still run water. |

| If you can run a 310 12 port head, that would be a start, still have to bore/stroke it...OR a 195GK power unit
I am at 410ci with a massey 1100 head, makes 140hp @2150rpm...I can pull 8-9mph in 5500lb class....have not gone up to 65 or 75, but should be able to 4mph or better....should give an idea of what you need...

a 5.5-5.75" crank is a lot of work and your rod/stroke ratio is not good with 77 rods, Why not bore the block out to 4.25-4.375 gonna have to get new pistons anyway, and keep your stroke at 4.75-5.25,
How many rpms are you turning? Just remember your cam is the weakest link |

| If you have a 3.875 bore you are looking at a 5.250 crank gives you 371.3 cu. A 5.500 crank would give you 389 cu. Both will work with not alot of grinding with early 77 rods 2 inch jor. You will have to grind a little on the rods, cam and block. You might as will look for some pistons with that size crank. Chevy 283 cu. small block. |

| you can use stock rods up to 4.75 with a little clearancing. or use buda rods. with different pistons. 4.125x4.75 would get you 381 cubes. |
