if you are running in an altered class, you can put in a 504 turbo and make good easy power. ive seen some real tough 6 cylinder case pullers.

I got many a trophy with a 930LP in farm stock. It was a 8 speed with a narrow front and they are long and easy to balance and she just kept going and going.

Year model may be a problem for you. Aside from that, they're heavy and only 377 cubic inches from the factory. However, that 377 has good power as is with more available with a little work. If you want to modify it, there is a ton of room to bore that block and a big crank to work with on the stroke. 600 to 700 cubes is pretty easy with some going over 1,000, but that much only happens with $$$$$. They can be competitive, but you're going to have to spend some time lightening it up and doing a few minor intake, fuel changes for stock pulling. Weight is the major issue.
