I'm trying to gather ideas, and I think I know how I want to build mine, but I the when I spend time and a ton of effort on something, only to have an afterthought that would have made my design so much better.

Thanks in advance.

It actually depends on how much power you plan on building into your tractor. I found out the hard way that a stock or mostly stock JD only needs a very limited set of weights. It would be Far and Away to your advantage to find ways to lighten the tractor as much as possible so you can get into the lower weight classes if you arent planning on HUGE cubes.

Thanks for the link, underdog.

It's a farmall m, underpowered at 60 Hp @ 540, but hooks good so far. Good enough that I need front weight in the 5500. As far as light, we built a light front end, hitch, motor mounts, steel wheels front and rear, and stripped everything not necessary. I'm too heavy to make 4500, so I need to lose a few lbs, and a seat is my next project.

Try this website. Go to the photo gallery and they have pictures of whatever you are looking for on a lot of different tractors sorted by make.

Hope that helps,

Not sure what happened there but the link was supposed to be to antique tractor pulling guide website.
Lots of good info and books about pulling too.
