What do you guys think? My brother wants to put a flat head v8 that he inherited into an 8n and set up to pull 2750-4000lb. I for one do not think it would be allowed, but supposedly was an option. He is more worried about keeping the drive train together, but I don't think he will get all that power to the ground. Maybe in open class with 16.9x34s cuts on it.

They let them pull around here, and at Tunica. I
personally have never seen one win. A flathead V8 is
239 cu. I think. At 2000 RPM a 226 Allis will put
out more power. I think you would need to bore and
stroke it to 400 cu to be a winner. I think the
really hot setup would be a 1952 8N with a 6 cyl.
Ford changed the 6 to a overhead in 52. Then you
could upgrade to a 300-6 and 500cu would be easy.
maybe 200 hp. Enough billet parts and the trans and
rear end would be ok. Cycro-genics (freezing) helps.
