I was wondering about a 1955 rear end. I recently bought one and the engine is bad I have a 5.9 cummins to put in it. I"m not sure how many ponys I can give it and be ok. I want to farm with it but I also want to pull it at the fair in the hottest class for it. There is an ih 1466 and a jd in that class and i"d like to see an oliver walk all over them. I can make the hp but dont know how much it will take. Any knowledge woud be helpful and appreciated! Thanks

The 1955 Oliver uses a chain coupler between the O/U and main transmition. I have heard that the coupler wont last over 125 hp for farm use. If you delete the O/U and run a straight shaft then you will eliminate two weak links. Another option is to use a 2-105 input shaft, they don't use the chain coupler. If you do this you will need to change your O/U. You will want to get a different front tub to have clearance for the Cummins oil pan. I have a front tub that will work for the Cummins I am in southern Indiana. Stu.

i have one tub iv put 354 perkins in 1755 and 1855 but i may be intrested in your tub as well im in inadana as well by brookville thanks for ur in info.
