Ignition recommendations for John Deere G

Since my "real" G puller is not really going to be finished in time for any pulls I decided to drag out the ol' 37 on spokes and have a little fun with it this summer.

Anyway, since I am new to the pulling stuff what would you guys recommend for ignition on this tractor?

I'd like to go to digital ignition just so I have something reliable with a really hot spark. I put a big nut on it and you really have to be careful with the fuel since I don't think the mag has the hottest spark.

So from start to finish, if it was your tractor would would you do?

I always had good luck with my msd and an LP distributor, lots of spark and the plugs always looked good, ran an msd coil with it too.

Figuring a coil and points were good on a 5500rpm
V8. How often does a two cylinder G fire at 1200-
1500rpm?
A Delco distributer with a Pertronix conversion is
plenty. Use Autolite 3116 plugs gaped at 40 thou or
more if cross firing under the dist cap isn't a
problem.
Use spiral wound suppression plug wires instead of
solid core.

i agree with b and d ,i have same setup on my 50 and 60...and my a we are building will be same also..works good, hot spark..i gap 3116 at .40 also...you dont need to spend a bunch of money...i put med springs out of small block chevy recurve kit in my dist also
