Massey Harris Mustang pictures

Here it is, the Massey Harris Mustang finally got its sheet metal put on this past week. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and can't wait for the next hook. I still need to build the front weight bracket extension for the 11ft rule, but I have a couple weeks to finish that little project.

So far, this tractor has performed well at the pulls this year. It pulls 3000lb and 3500lb classes and loves a 4mph class.

Those squiggly tires are better than most people realize. My son usted to have a 22 I think. Is a Mustang close to the same size?

Yes, so far I've noticed the tires hook up really well.

The Mustang is virtually the same as a 22. It was brought out as an economy model with revised sheet metal (non hinging side panels). Same F140 Continental engine, same 4spd tranny and rear end. The rear wheels are probably the biggest difference - 28in vs the 34in used on the late 22s. The Mustang's numerical model designation was 23.

The Colt, designated the model 21, was similar, only it had the smaller F124 engine. Colt tractors were only built for 2yrs and are considered a bit rare. The Mustang was built from 1952-1957 and they are more common.

One other note - The earlier model 81, 82 and 20 tractors were very similar also.

Not bad for an MM guy, eh?

I'm working on editing the video right now. I have footage of both pulls it's been to this year. Stay tuned.
