I have heard of people foaming there rears. Could I drain oil instead and plaster grease on all gears and be ok?

Sounds reasonable enough. Might try it out first by packing it then pulling a heavy weight around the back field first, like a heavy wagon, or better yet, a triple-bottom through hard soil, then tear into it to see if it worked. I think it should work, but if I were going to do it, I would be sure to repack it after every pull till I figured out just exactly how well it was working.

I can't see the high speed ring and pinion gears living without a constant flow of lube through them. The idea of foaming just fills up the rear so that a minimum of lube still is available to flow through the gears. Smearing the gears and bearings sounds like a recipe for disaster. Why do you need to pull that light that a few lbs of gear lube is critical? Build a big engine and run a class where you can keep your lube. JMHO. mEl
