I have a friend that has a 130hp Farmall M. I was wondering how many cubic inches it would take in a John Deere G, to make that much hores power? Thanks

Well, 6.250 X 9.250 equals 567 CID. I don't know a lot about these big builds but I am pretty sure that that isn't enough. You are going to need to buy a big block to get up closer to the 800 cube range. I am sure that someone will have better info than me however.

a jd has alot more tourque which is what spins the wheels so you can win with less h.p in a jd than the other brands

With the right head work 700 cubes can achieve that. Know of a 650 cube G running around 120-125. There are cheaper ways of getting a big reliable block than spending 4500. 7.25 bore by 9+ stroke makes a good running tractor.

g-puller i have 46gm,runnig power block to 6.675x9.25,running orround 110-115 hp,doze okagainst that hp ms.ican run 18-4x38 full cuts in 4mph an do ok.alot of it is ballence of tractor.this figures to about 640 cubes,an run racing fuel,an watch timing. depends on track on gear i run,but shorecan worry ihs,the other greenones,an mms. dan

dont know if its correct, but been told alot that it takes 6ci to make 1hp on a antique engine(not alot of modern gagets) race car engins closer to 2 to 1 hopes this helps!!!

650CI will do it, If its done right.

I watched a G on the dyno that was 650 ci and it would only pull 125 at the very most. Then they put a new crankshaft in it a dozen or so pulls later. Not Knocking the Johndeeres at all but in my opinion I think the Farmalls are the most reliable after being built by a person that has done many of them and is very Knowledgable.

Comparing the two different engine designs is getting into apples vs. oranges.
The M series motor has more port area with relation to engine displacement. Plus the inherent ability to turn more rpms.
The souped G isn't in the same class as a souped M.
Back when these engine were designed nobody was thinking of pulling them on the track in 2010.

well i watched an A push out 96hp on the belt, with just a tsc power block so bore could not have been that big, & the rpm was around 1200 or maybe 1500 max. that m will fall down flat once it gets pulled down aways too cuz the rpm is all they got, no torque.
