Looking at putting a 310 motor in my Oliver 88. The 310 motor is out of a 1855. What is needed to make it work (ie which stuff is needed from the 1855 and which ones are needed from the 88)? Any help is appreciated.

if its gas, all you need from the 1855 is the complete engine. from the 88 you will use the bellhousing, flywheel, starter, governer and all throttle linkage. you can also use the 88 distributer. you will need a heavier duty clutch and pressure plate. i think thats about it. good luck chuck

Thanks for the help Chuck. Just out of curiosity, will the clutch out of the 1855 work or do you just go with the 11" for the 88?

you need to use a clutch for the 88. call brad @ maibach tractor and he can set you up with the proper parts, 330-939-4192. chuck

The 1855 flywheel will not fit in the 88 bellhousing, you can use a 1655 flywheel, which will allow for a 12" clutch in the 88 bellhousing.

so I can use the delco distributor out of the 88 in place of the holley in the 310? is there any benefit to either one, or just what oliver put in the different motors? Thanks again for all the help!!!
