Firestone SAT II

Anyone running these with success? 15.5x38. I have a set on our Farmall M that pulls 5500 - 7000 (could not get my hands on a good set of old tires). I just had some questions on air pressures that people are running with these on soft tracks and also hard tracks and what kind of success. I seem to be doing ok on softer tracks but horrible on a very hard track; looking for pointers.
Thanks!

I just had a long talk with a dealer yesterday as we were going through his used tires. He said that the SAT II tires were not as strong as the other SAT's. The sidewalls are not nearly as strong so that might be your problem on hard tracks. He said they were having the same trouble with them as the Armstrong and Goodyear tires. In fact we went over to the junk pile and he had some of each that were almost new tread life left and the sidwalls were cracked into on all of them.

Run LOTS of air, especially if your running an overwidth rim which is better to keep your tread "footprint" flat with the extra air pressure. These tires grip good, but the sidewalls are soft.

yes, I am running these on oversized rims. Yes, that was definitely my mistake; I aired down instead of up. How much do you guys consider lots? 10 or 12 PSI? I was running 8.5 PSI on a medium track with good results. I really am trying to make these things work. It is hard to find good div 2 pulling tires it seems anymore. Thanks for the help!

no, the SAT II that I have have more lugs than the old SAT. I believe they are also a shorter bar though. You are right about them being soft though.

wanted to thank everyone for their help. had a hard track on Fri night and the advice helped quite a bit! Thanks!
