custom gear sets

Where could a guy get some custom gears made? I want good quality but reasonable price. You all know the drill.

There's already guys making gears but you need to be a little more specific. Gears made for a JD Prostock won't work in your AC WD,

If you can find somebody out there who's already making gears for your make and model in some sort of quantity you'll be WAY ahead. Good used is another possibility.

You can go to the Thomas Register site and do a search for gear manufacturers and send out a few R.F.Q.'s...

I looked into have a set of creeper gears made for a Deere 80/820/830/840 and the quotes I got were very expensive. Two gears... had a quote for 2,500 ... another for 3,300... and another I didn't bother writing down because it was crazy high.

I ended up posting a wanted add on a couple sites and found two sets. bought the one and wasn't crazy about the condition so I bought the others. Sold the so-so ones on eBay and got my $$ back.

I guess it depends on what you consider reasonable?
