Farmall M Turbo

What mods do I need to make to the carb on my M for it to hold boost? Also do I need an electric fuel pump too keep fuel to the carb with boost? What all else do I need? I have the tractor and the turbo just need to know how to put 2 and 2 together.

I do not have a direct answer for you but look around on you tube there are a few people there that have done it. They may tell you what you need to do.

Sucking through the carb is a better method, it solves all the problems of trying to get things sealed up and finding a special pressure regulator with provision for reading intake boost so it can increase fuel pressure accordingly. Also it may be helpful to find a distributor with a spark retard diaphragm, looks just like a advance but works opposite( maybe out of a Corvair Spyder). We did this in the 60-70s with a DC and were pulling so a governor was not an issue. We were having our turbos built special by Turbo Systems Inc. out of Akron, Oh. Blow through you need to have the fuel pressure increase in proportion to the boost increase or when they become equal fuel flow will stop. A word of caution, If you boost an M hard and run a lot of power the center main saddle will tear loose in the block. this will be evidenced by oil seeping out the side of the block. Turboing will go a long way toward exposing weaknesses in the engine and drivetrain. mEl
