1941 pulling cam questions.

Looking for as much information about the stock cam for my 1941 JD B. Also would like some suggestions for pulling grinds. Must lug good. The tractor will have alot of head work done, compression ratio of 11:1 or so, .045" over 4 11/16 pistons, stock stroke, flowed manifold A carb.
 
I don't have any direct experience with a "B", but my experience with an A tells me that you don't want much more duration than you have now, maybe add 6-8 degrees duration at most to the intake, given you havn't added a lot of displacement. If you add a lot of displacement by stroking the crank, adding more duration generally helps. More lift, especially on the intake, should help a lot. I'm a fan of Murphy's roller rockers as they increase the actual valve lift a lot. Maybe WTW will chime in here. Mike
 
Thanks but do you know where to find the stock specs for the cam ? I know a guy I really want to look at them. He has gone through alot of training and works with companies in engineering.
 
The John Deere service manuals have valve event timing specs in them for the ones I have looked thru (A, 60, 620), but I've never looked at the B manual. This would be opening and closing times, which should roughly correspond to total duration, lift is easily obtained by measuring the lobe with calipers or micrometer, knowing that a used one will be worn some. A cam grinder familar with 2 cylinder cams should know stock specs, but may or may not be willing to share that information. I've mapped a stock A/60 cam in the tractor with a dial indicator and a degree wheel, so that's also an option. That's about all the help I can offer. Mike
