Hello:

I have a 4230 (404) I'd like to turbo and install a modified A pump on (400 CC). Can I have the pencil injectors lazered out and use them with .093" injection lines or do I have to go to the 4430 style kdel injectors? How much boost will the stock head gasket take.

Thanks

Finding someone to working the injectors over shouldn't be to hard.. but the injection pump is going to take some work.. the block is different on the 4230 where the injection pump mounts.. 3 bolts for the 4230.. 4 bolts for the A pump.. 4 bolts for the P pump.. (p pump has a bigger hole.) I don't know the side of the hole in the block for the 4230.. I think its smaller.. but I'm not going to say for sure.. have to measure your 4230 pump.. or ask someone to measure theirs.. and compare it to your A pump.. If you are going to use that block, then will have to be machined out, and the new bolt/stud holes drilled.. (it can be done.) but depending on the condition of your engine, you might be better off looking for a 40 series 466.. or at least an A pumped 404.. (If you get a 466 it will fit right in, but if its a P pumped 466 two of the oil pan to clutch housing bolts are a little off.. they can be modified or you can use your 404 pan..)

Good Luck...

An A pump will bolt on the 4230 block because there
a 7 holes not 3. There are 3 if you use a rotary and
4 are already pre-drilled for the A pump. I do not
recomend using the pencil injectors with 400 cc s of
fuel as hydraulic lock is a very real possibility.
Go with a 55 series head and some good injectors and
lines. And good luck pulling!

Back a few years ago we had injectors lasered out for a 970 Case with pencils so it can be done. We were also useing a pump off a larger engine with larger than stock plungers and had no problems getting fuel through the pencils. Also the needle lift settings must be adjusted accordingly within the injectors. Scheid Diesel I believe did our injectors. mEl

Was your injection pump inline or rotary? What sized lines did you run and how much fuel did your pump put out?
