Case engine rebuild

I have a VAC that is very tired. Plan to pull up to 3250 with it. I see that .040 under bearings are available for it. Thinking of offset grinding it that far (can"t afford to stroke it)not much, but some. Put 3 7/16 flat tops in it. Deck the block as much as possible. 300 cam. Would this get me into the 30 horse or so range, or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely? Only thinking right now, and fishing for suggestions short of re-mortgaging my home to build an engine. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

you need to find mel on the case sight . I dont see that .040 thousandths stroke is going to help much if you can find some body that will try it that tight .most want over .100 to start with when offset grinding

I'm with mlpankey - mEL knows his Cases and how to make HP without breaking the bank. (try him on the Case page), and 0.040" to your crank isn't going to make a noticeable difference.

I can tell you a 300 cam wont help at all. Drop me a email and i might be able to help.

If I remember correctly, the pistons stick out of the top of this engine a few thousandths, so decking isn't an option. You can shave the head up to an 1/8 inch to get the compression up.
