I HAVE A 1940 JD b THAT I WANT TO MAKE A PULLING TRACTOR OUT OF. I CANT FIND ANY PARTS FOR IT. NOBODY EVERN HAS STOCK PARTS FOR MY SN. 60000 TO 95999. NEED MORE POWER!

ask him how many of his big bore b blocks are running successfully! Heard theres a fly in the ointment.

hey I"ve got a 39 B that im workin on right now. These guys are right go to www.extremetractorparts.com and talk to ray. The one im buildin is mild but he can get ya somethin wild. but a later block will fit in there and its a bigger bore and shorter block i.e. higher compression. emails open if ya need more help

LBB, Doug, and JDTH, that's the beauty of rumors. You get half the story.

Mark was sold the very first prototype block at a heavily discounted price with the understanding that there could be issues and any issues would be handled between me and him.

Version 1 was created as a 5.75" bore.
Version 2 was created as a 6.125" bore. There was a thin spot on the bottom where the core/pattern came together - didn't show up until we put the 6.125" bore into it. This was resolved, and all "version 1&2" blocks were scrapped. I ran the 5.75" block last year (a version 1 block, the "thin spot" didn't affect this one).

The machinist who I had worked with to do the blocks originally, passed away, as did the tricks of getting these done.

They are now CNC machined (previous ones were NC). On one of the 6.125" blocks, a radius was machined wrong for the upper outer crankcase bolts. The wrong radius was programmed in for the bolt clearance. Again, this has been resolved.

I knew there were some problems to work out and if you have them addressed thats fine, often have that in the r&d stages. It is important to have the bugs worked out so a customer doesn't have problems, not that I expect miracles as we are all doing much more to these old tractors than they were intended for.
