LESS CLASSES AT PULLS NEXT YEAR??

I cant believe it, I just looked at my pulling clubs website, they are eliminating farm stock and improved farm stock classes at all pulls next year. They want the pull to be faster to keep the fans there and their answer is to only run modified and "hot" tractors. I am dissapointed because now there is another club close but there is only like 5 pulls all year for that club, my ol' john deere A might just have to be retired.

This is for st croix valley pullers in mid west wisconsin and western minnesota

Not sure when "the fans" started paying the bills. Someone needs to pull thier heads from their rumps and realize that the pull needs to survive on hook fees, not fans. Unless you are at a county fair or some sort of festival, most of the fans are friends/family of the pullers.

Look at the results for any NATPA pull. I'm not saying that everyone should be like the NATPA, but am saying, look at their numbers. All the volume is in Division II and III. Sure, it's more fun to go fast in Div IV/V, but there's no tractors there. I'd assume when you say "fast tractors", you mean high $$$ V-8's, smokers, etc.

Reading their letter on their website, it sounds like they want to fail. if they dont get what they want, they want to disband...fold up, call it quits.

I understand what they are wanting to do, what would work better would be to run classes somewhat like they're suggesting, but, the pulls that pay you to put on the shows should be the people taking care of the farmstock classes. All we ever hear about is how "farmstock should be for the locals!" Well, here is the perfect chance! Let SCV sanction the classes they plan to do, the pull promoter runs what form of stock they choose to (maybe before the SCV classes start?), their rules for their area, any complaining, they handle it, not SCV. It's a thought anyway. There was a time not so many years ago that Badger State was a lot like SCV. Some say there is not enough "hot" tractors to make this work, maybe so at this point, but, if you don't have classes that show promise to potential new pullers, then you never will get enough "hot" tractors. But hey, its just my 2 cents, I don't pull with them anyway!! LOL

Not sure where you are from but around our area the fans are the ones helping to pay the bills and make a profit to sustain the pull. There are 20 or so pulls in a 30 mile range of me each year an if the fans did not come to watch eat and drink there would be no money to continue these pulls. At 50% payback if you can break even at the track you are lucky.

Be sure & Email the leaders. The rules have not been set as of yet. When I talked to Brian, he seamed pretty set though.

seems like everywhere you go the few make decisions for the masses
,when in reality the make messies for the few and then wonder what when wrong when the ruin a good thing

sounds like a mess to me none the less, when I look back at all the pulls this past year there was always way more farm tractors than the "hot" tractors, and when there is a set payout of 75 to the winner, at 25 bucks a hook they have to make way more off the hooks than the drinks and food, especially like one guy said at a normal pull that is not a fair or something like that. I hope it doesnt pass, because that means I will have to travel a lot farther to pull next year. I do agree that the "hot" tractors that go fast and blow the smoke are funner to watch but you just cant forget the basics, where tractor pulling came from is the guys who came right from the farm, without farm stocks, I think the pulling club will fall on their face, and thats what i would hope to see as well.

guys I just looked back to at the results from last year, they say in their letter that there was over 600 hooks last year, I looked back at the results and there were 356 farm stock hooks, and they tapered off at the end of the year really bad because when red cedar pullers(a neighboring club) started their pulls everyone went to them because they payout twice as much. doesnt sound like they know what they are about to do

Just a thought but maybe some of you farm stock pullers from your club should get together and start your own club. And really put the hurtin on this club.
