[b:51c76b5b19]Hi,
I have been tractor pulling for a couple years now, usually in small local pulls. I run a Farmall M in the 6000-7000lb class and a Farmall Super M in the 7000-8000lb class. My Super M weighs 7750lb and the M is at 6450 lbs. I'M generally pretty competitive in these classes.
I went to a big pull this weekend and got my A#% kicked pretty bad. All the Farmall Ms were in the 5-6000 lb class and I was pulling against JD 620's and 630's and Cockshutt 50's. I got smoked!! So my plan is to drop the M into the 5000-6000lb class. All of these tractors are bone stock. What classes do you guys pull your Super M's and M's in??? What do you pull against?? How do you usually make out??
Thanks,
SW6[/b:51c76b5b19]

I pull my Farmall 400 (58hp) in the 6500-7000# classes & my Farmall 450 Diesel (52hp) in 7500-8000# classes. No one takes me out! I beat a JD 4020 diesel last week in the 8500# farm stock with the 450...

[b:3259a97e59]Hi,
Usually run my Super M in the 7-8000 lb class which is fine, but the class on the weekend was 7-8500. My Super M dynos at 65 hp. The JD R, C/S 50 and the WD9 in that class were miles ahead of me. Most of the 720/730 JD's were 10 ft further than me. How high do you run your drawbars and how big of rubber do you have on the back??
Thanks!!

In my neck of the woods(Northern Va), most M's and supers pull from 5500 up. In 5500, none are very effective, usually not enough weight for traction. But, from 6000 or 6500 they will put you on the trailer if you can't get a good bite. Of course, most of them are modified in some way. Back in July, I went 286' in 6000 and set the mark with a stock Massey Harris. The next tractor was an M and he went 7' farther to give me 2nd. Next weekend I ended up around the middle of the pack in all my classes, some pulls I get a good hook, some not. I've noticed being able to read a track matters more than horsepower most times. Most of them like to run 14.9's or 15.5's. The rules around here limit tires to one size over stock.

In Michigan they pull from a 5200# class and up. The 6000 and 6500 classes here are very stout.

The division 3 Ms and Super M have alot of cubic inch up here, there 61/2 to 7" stroke motors on the strong ones. To pull in the thumb you had better have a very large motor, even in the so called farm stock classes.

The 6000 lbs class is the biggest class up here for that tractor, div 2 and 3. There is other clubs that run division 4 and 5 and have some strong ones as well, but we keep to the 3 1/2 mph limit.

Get that tractor on a diet and make some weight bars, the mid and front bars seem to be the most important for that tractor, i never hang weight out back.

8) down here in tn its common to see a m in 4250.

[b:dca8b3302c]Thanks!
I have my M down to 5850lbs now. I am going to drop the Super M down below 7000lbs. Where we pull there are no weights allowed other than the factory ones. Engines have to stock or factory overbores.
I think by dropping some weight off of then I'll be is good shape.
Best

No one takes you out? That's a pretty bold statement that I wouldn't even make! There is always someone out there that can take you out at one point or another....

M's do well here in the 5500, though they are pulling mostly against other Ms. Might as well call it the Farmall M class. I'm glad to see a 770and 880 Oliver in there to give a little variety. Nothing against the M but its tiring to see 6 or 7 in one class.

[b:31c4e75441]Yes,
I agree. We have the same problem here in the 6000-7000lb class. Only it is W6's and Super W-6's. Where I pulled last weekend the 6000-7000lb class was mostly 630/620 JD's. It is nice to see some Cockshutts and Olivers out there pulling.
