truck bed reinstall

I had to remove bed to replace fuel pump and while its off replacing the bed supports that hook to frame.. Question is why I need to spot weld new ones on. Why cant I place them on frame and then lower bed down and bolt the bed and supports to frame.. why wouldnt this work.. my mind tells me it would..

The only issue I can think of is the nuts might vibrate off. If you are going to use bolts I would use some threadlock. It also might help to take a screwdriver and damage the threads on the bolts sticking out from the nuts.

I think a quick tack-weld on any exposed threads will keep the bed bolts tight till they rust off again. Depends where you drive the truck, I'm in Wisconsin, I've seen terminal cancer on 5 year old pickups. I've seen Arizona cars, even 3-4 year old WHITE cars fade.
