Body filler water absorption

His welding is bad, there should be no pin holes left. It's not the filler, it s the body man

He posted in the video that he should have applied seam sealer to the back side, but he couldn't get at it. Well, I disagree. For the seam sealer to work the surface that it is applied to needs to be totally cleaned of any dirt, rust, paint, then primed and painted. Even then you will hold the moisture away for only maybe another year. To keep the moisture from getting to the filler you have to BUTT weld the parts. NO OVERLAP. And you have to use continuous weld, not stitch weld. He got what he should have for the effort that he put in.

Years ago I didn't want to spend much time and money fixing rust holes on my winter beater. So fabricated galvanized patches, lightly sandblasting them and around the hole then just glued them on. Spot welded wherever the original was spot welded. Didn't care how long the fix lasted and was surprised when it lasted til the car died, many years. No welding distortions and no rust ever came back at the seams. Trick is holding the panels tight against the hole til the structural adhesive sets.
