I am in the process of restoring my Internaional H. I have sprayed it with CaseIH paint, think it turned out pretty good for an amature
Any houghts on decals, are some better than others, should i clear coat over the top of them?

I'd try to get the right decals for the right year! The early H's had McCormick Deereing FARMALL on the large hood decal. This was shortened to just McCormick FARMALL during the series, and the
later H's did not have Deereing included on the decal.
When did this happen? I can't answer that exactly. I'm wanting to say 45 or 6. Could of been a smidge later. Research it out for yourself. It's a common mistake people make, especially on the earlier H's, to put the wrong decals on. I myself decaled my 43 wrong, not knowing at the time.

One other thing, the light switch decal. You're decal set will likely include 2 different ones for this. The L H D B decal for light switch, was for H's equiped with a cut-out instead of a voltage regulator. The lights switch doubled as a control for the cut-out. This was also for the earlier H's (not sure when voltage regulators became standard equipment). H's equiped with a voltage regulator, didn't need the charging system controlled by the light switch. That's what the other decal, O D B, is for. Off, Dim, Bright for the light switches that only control the lights.
On this decal, I would put on what is right for the tractor, and not for the year. If it has a regulator, or cut-out replaced by one, or been converted to 12 v, I'd use the O D B one. Only use the L H D B one if still equiped with and using the cut-out.

I don't have any advice on clear coat. I've never used clear coat. I could see where decals would be more protected with clear coat sprayed over the top. But, I'm thinking it would be tuff to spray that over the surface of a decal (runs, blemishes, etc.). Maybe it's not. I'll let someone else answer that.

Thanks for the reply, I am glad you mentioned the various decals. I had thought that an H was an H was an H so I would have probably bought the wrong ones. My H was built in 1952.

Should be McCormick Farmall on the hood decal (no Deereing).
Guessing you have the light switch that is just a light switch, but I don't know that for sure. Check out the electrical system for yourself. But atleast you know which switch decal goes to what.

I'd find out for sure on the clear coat. Because if it won't work to spray clear coat over the decals, then you'll be messing ALL of it up. The paint, decals, and clear coat. All of it. Not something you want to just say (I think it'll work, I'll try it). All I can tell ya is, clear coat goes on over the paint. And I'm guessing it is not fixable once sprayed on. No, oops I got a run, I'll have to sand it out and give that area another coat. I don't think it is like that. Not as fixable as paint mess ups. Know what I mean?
