Ace vs. Rust-O-Leum any difference?

I use both of these paints--the store brand from Ace Hardware and the Rust-O-Leum. Depends on what color I want and what's available. Darned if I can tell any difference between the two. Any opinions on which one is better? Should mention these are the oil-based enamel. Gerrit

I believe the Ace line of paint is made by Valspar and Valspar paint in well know to fade with some colors, especially red. I painted a Kubota tractor with Valspar paint once and within a year it was peach colored. I've never seen paint fade that fast. Then I
repainted the same tractor in 2009 with Rust-O-Leum farm and implement paint and it has faded too little to mention. Most of the tractor I can use the same paint for touch-up. It's just the top of the hood and fenders which would show if touched up.

Thanks, that's interesting about the fading. I was thinking the Ace brand might even be produced by Rust O Leum an then re-labelled. I like that they're both fairly thick and can brush on a smooth finish that lasts with good surface prep. Gerrit

The colors prone to fade the quickest are Red, Yellow and Blue in that order. The color orange I used is a mixture of red and yellow so it was very prone to fade. The valspar paint that faded held up well except for the color.
