I have two small patches to prime and paint while it is still warm enough to paint. Aerosol cans apply such a thin coat that it makes me wonder if they are as good as the spray gun primers. I understand that I need to put on enough coats to get good coverage, but are they just as good?

for a small area over bare metal, use a product like sem self etching primer, then go over that with your surfacer/fill primer, block it then wet sand it. the shoot color. napa or your local body shop supplier will have the sem self etch. it comes in aerosol cans or quart/ gallon.

The SEM self-etching is about as close as a spraygun is from an areosol can. I have it a a base coat on my fender repair .Paint has integrity.
