Paint question...

Hi all,

Have a paint question.

I know not related to tractors, but hoping
someone might have info?

I have some trees, maples, apple, etc -
that have some branches which are snapped
from a recent wind storm.

I wanted to put on some paint to cover the
broken area as here we have a couple
invasive critters which destroy trees
pretty quick and like easy access points.

Anyone have any input on good, safe, tree
paint which I can use?

If not a paint, something else?

Any kind of paint or tar would work alright however they make an actual pruning sealer which would probably be better. It would be best to cut the limb off clean first thought.

Not a big deal. The tree is probably more hardly than we are. Make a clean cut and walk away. If it makes you feel better. - paint the cut with tree wound dressing, a tar-like substance you can get from Lowes or Home Depot.

Make a clean 90 degree cut right next to a branch, in order for the end to stay healthy.

I agree. I did some research on this recently when I had to prune some big diameter branches hanging over my shop. Most tree experts say to cut close to the trunk and let the tree heal on its own. If you don't want to take the branch off completely, a clean cut as suggested would be next best. I wouldn't use any kind of sealer.

Times have changed....we used to use bacon grease on our wounds....there are better things now! :) Pruning sealer:)
