very thin john deere yellow

Opened a can of yellow from john deere and it is so thin I don't want to add hardener or reducer to thin it more. As is, it won't cover on a trial piece. Any suggestions on firming it up, or a different brand that will cover?

What kind of paint is the John Deere paint? If it is a urethane it should be thinner than enamel. If it sprays alright with just the hardener then there is no reason you would have to use reducer anyway.

Is it JOHN DEERE paint, as it says on the can? Alkyd enamel? How old is it? Shake the dickens out of it. Out of the can, it should be about the consistency of cold maple syrup which will need
reducing to spray.

As stated, it is John Deere labeled paint with the TYxxxx number. 6 months old at most, fresh can, stirred well.
