8N Red Paint?

Hey Fellas,

Trying to help my Father out with touching up the 8N. We believe it was repainted at some point. We've done a bunch of research on the different paints it might be and started with a can of Tallmans Ford Red (5480 0).

I did a little test strip on the carb. As you see, indoors the new paint looks a bit brighter. But outside, it looks really close.

Wondering what you guys think?

On another note - did ford paint these tractors before or after they were assembled?

Thanks much.

FWIW the shade is called vermillion. It is darker than the "orange" red that replaced it in '58. Don't make it pale by adding white. All of the red was assembled, including the starter and generator. Then the seat, hoses, radiator, carburetor linkages, gauges ,distributor, and wiring was added. The sheet metal was prepainted gray in a separate room and added after the red paint dried. The wheels were then added and they used new cad plated lug nuts. Not used ones painted red.
