I normally use the Napa/Martin Senour Crossfire paints but this project I am doing has a limited budget and the Napa paints are going to be in between $400 to $500 and I wanted to find a more affordable paint for this project. I did some research and found 2 suitable paints and I can't decide between the 2. I am only doing the sheet metal on the tractor. It will be a non glare black from my CaseIh dealer along with the CaseIh thinner and primer or a hot rod black from a company call Speedokote and again with there thinners/primers/catalyst. The Case Irongaurd paint is a acrylic enamel from what I am told and the Speedkote is 2k acrylic urethane. I like both. I think the Case paint would be easier to apply in regards to the subsurface as the paint will be most compatible with whatever mistakes I might make in surface prep but the paint itself may not be as good as an automotive paint. The Speedkote paint I would think would hold up better to the elements being a 2k and automotive paint but me not being pro autobody/paint tech it my be possible if I don't prep the sheet metal correctly the paint as I apply it or right after I apply it could orange peel/lift/crack or whatever problem that could occur. I have had great customer help from both Case and Speedkote. The price for both each will be around $200. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you!
